Made from the locus pod, carob powder has a fat content of 2 percent as compared to chocolate’s 52 percent. It is high in calcium, phosphorus, potassium, iron, magnesium, and other minerals and vitamins. Used as a substitute for chocolate. It is not bitter and therefore requires less sugar than chocolate to make it sweet. Carob contains no tannin, caffeine, or theobromine.
